In order to continuously improve performance, we systematically track our performance at a Group level against a range of environmental and social indicators. The attached table illustrates Anglo American's sustainable development performance for 2010 in key focus areas and sets out targets for 2011 and beyond. Each focus area is aligned with the Group's strategy to become the employer and partner of choice.
Anglo American has signed up to and is committed to operating within the International Council of Mining Metals framework for sustainable development and the UN Global Compact, as well as reporting our performance using the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) G3 guidelines. By integrating external, independent benchmarks into our reporting culture, we ensure our data is transparent and comparable globally.
